On our 40th year anniversary, we are delighted to update our friends, clients and supporters of Ayrshire Cancer Support this Christmas time about the exciting year we have had!
During this special anniversary year, we received a very prestigious honour, The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award given to a voluntary group and is the equivalent of an MBE to an individual.
This is recognition of our wonderful volunteers, ambassadors, staff, trustees and supporters, without whom none of what we do would be possible. This is a crowning moment in our history, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us deliver such an essential range of services.
We continue with our aim to improve the quality of life of those living with cancer and ensure we are here for people throughout Ayrshire who need our support. We will continue to be flexible and respond in line with the prevailing Health Improvement Scotland Remobilisation plan.
As cancer rates sadly grow, so does demand for our range of services. These are all provided free of charge and include transport for patients receiving treatment at hospital, professional counselling, a range of complementary therapies, various support groups and workshops, our drop-in centre, cancer nurse appointments, as well as our new children and young people service which supports those aged 5 upwards who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis, either directly, or through the diagnosis of a family member or friend. We are here to help, please get in touch on 01563 538008 to talk to us.
We also forge ahead with our plans to develop our new centre in Ayr. Phase two will be complete by year end, making the building suitable for delivering our services in the meantime until we can raise enough funds to start the main building project. A huge thank you to our sponsors who have been working hard to raise funds for this build project or who have contributed materials, labour or time.

The challenge of ever-increasing costs continues to be an issue for our organisation. This, coupled with an increase in demand for our services, means the future will remain challenging for us but our focus will remain on helping those who have a new diagnosis, are currently having treatment, are caring for someone with cancer, or had a bereavement to cancer.
Please donate what you can by clicking the button below to make an online donation or send a cheque to Ayrshire Cancer Support, 5 Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock, KA1 1EQ. Thank you for your support in the past and together we can continue to support the lives of people affected by cancer today and in the future.
For as little as £3 per month by direct debit (the price of a coffee) YOU can help us deliver vital services to give hope for remission, hope the cancer does not spread, hope that family members will cope with a loved one’s diagnosis and hope that all cancer patients in Ayrshire will receive the support that they need.
We are urging the Ayrshire community to become Hope Heroes by pledging to donate a small amount of money to help provide some certainty to the charity, in the knowledge that people have collectively committed to donating each month.
